After a short briefing of assignment 1, we were asked to do some research on movies that can best represent the art movement we want to elaborate.

  I have chosen the movie 'The Warriors Gate', which was about is a futuristic action flick with an ancient Chinese imperial backdrop peppered with video game kung fu. It is about a teenage gamer, named Jack, receives a mysterious chest from a Chinese man. The chest opens a gateway through time that transports him to an ancient empire. Jack uses all of his gaming skills to battle a cruel barbarian king, to protect a beautiful princess, named Su Lin, and find his way back home.

  There are two art movements can be found in this movie: expressionism and surrealism.

Expressionism: to express the inner world of emotion rather than external reality

Surrealism: to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind

​

The art movement I chose is expressionism. This movie has delivered strong moral values we human lack today, which are humanity, loyalty and faith.
